Quality control

Top  Previous  Next

This function allows to accurately compare colors. These colors are commonly referred as "Standard" and "Trial" colors.

By default the second clipboard color (Trial) is compared with the first clipboard color (Standard).

New "Standard" and "Trial" can be inserted at any time performing an instrument measure or clicking on any available clipboard position.

To select as "Trial" one of the colors in the clipboard simply use the mouse to left-click on it. To select as "Standard" one of the colors in the clipboard, use the mouse to right-click on it.

Color differences are visualized according to several common standards (Delta CIE76, CIE94, CIEDE 2000, CMC) and in reference to the 3 selected illuminant/observers.

From the quality control window is possible to select different ways to graphically view color data/difference:

Tristimulus (x, y)

This selection plots the "Standard", the "Trial" and clipboard colors on an absolute x and y graph.

CIE-L*ab (relative)

The a* b* target graph places the "Standard" at the center and plots the relative locations of the "Trial" and clipboard colors

CIE-L*ab (absolute)

This selection plots the "Standard", the "Trial" and clipboard colors on an absolute a* and b* value graph.

CIE-L*CH

This selection plots the "Standard", the "Trial" and clipboard colors on an absolute C* and L* value graph.

Reflectance curve

The graph displays the reflectance curves, if available, for the "Standard" (red), the "Trial" (black) and clipboard (grey) colors. These curves are only available for colors that have spectrophotometer measurement data in the file.

Reflectance data

This selection displays a numeric chart of the reflectance curve data. It displays the "Standard" data, the delta differences between reflectances, and the "Trial" data at 20nm intervals.

K/S curve

The graph displays the K/Se curves, if available, for the "Standard" (red), the "Trial" (black) and clipboard (grey) colors. These curves are only available for colors that have spectrophotometer measurement data in the file.

K/S data

This selection displays a numeric chart of the K/S curve data. It displays the "Standard" data, the delta differences, and the "Trial" data at 20nm intervals.

kstep1Selectors are available for specific tasks:

edi_radio

Trial/Standard

Selects the target color (trial or standard) where a new measure will be stored.

edi_check

Clipboard

Include all clipboard colors in graphical views.

kstep1Buttons are available for specific operations:

edi_misw

Starts a color measure. This button send the measuring command directly to the selected spectrophotometer. Depending on which target has been selected, color data will be transferred to the "Standard" or "Trial" area.

edi_swap

This button is used to exchange (swap) the "Standard" and "Trial" colors position. Color differences and graphical presentations can be better evaluated using this feature.

edi_quit

This button quits the quality control function and gives back control to the application.
